Ian Petri's Art is to be considered from several points of view. Petri creates his artworks in series of academic painting technique of multiple layers of oil on canvas. At first glance it seems as naturalistic but a careful look at his works in the perspective of the series, we can notice a development in the images portrayed. The Landscape is shown as a realistic image, where color plays a significant role, and include elements suggesting symbolic and meditative aspects. The image transforms gradually, more and more figureless, as though we approach and concentrate on a chosen detail of the the color takes over, the contours of the portrayed image diminish almost becoming almost an abstract image. |
